its been awhile!

I have been out of commission for the last 8 weeks...for a good reason...

morning sickness has kicked my behind! but I am back on track. I am 14 weeks pregnant..so I am no longer trying to lose weight, but I am going to be staying fit to be healthy and be able to carry this baby until June 2008...

Thursday WOD

I had big hopes of running on Wednesday, but I was sooo tired I couldn't do anything but go to bed! Roman had woken up and was freaking out for some time in the middle of the night.. it took a lot of caffeine to get thru the day!

We did the following in my crossfit class
2 rounds of 1 minute (as many reps as you can do in the minute, no resting)

wall ball squats (14 lbs)
push press
box jump
sumo deadlift
row

total score was 125!

today was a partner workout: do as many rounds of the following with a partner in 14 minutes

CASA 5K

Today I ran a 5K in support of CASA in Travis County. it went ok. I did it in 33 min 30 seconds..I know I can probably do better... check out the video (a speed walker beat me) yeah I show up pretty late in the video.. but you can still support CASA

Tuesday WOD

today we had to attempt to do the following:

30 reps body weight + half deadlifts....

was not going to happen.. I don't want to risk hurting my back... so I started with 65 lbs, and was finished 30 like in 2 minutes.... so our instructor was like you need more weight... so we added 10 more, and did 5 more reps.. so then I felt I could do 85 lbs...so I did 5 reps.. next time we do deadlifts, I am going to start at 85 lbs...

Monday WOD

Today I ran out of the house w/out my workout clothes. so when Roman went to bed, I needed to go to the ATM. Instead of hopping in my car, I decided to run/jog... it took me about 40 minues (including 5 min warm up, 5 min cool down walk)... I didn't stop, only to make a deposit at the ATM. my bank website says its 2.1 miles from my house... I had to wait for someone to finish their transaction, so I might have been done sooner.....

Weekend update

So this Saturday morning, I took out Roman in the jogging stroller and went for a jog... well more of a walk/jog. the stroller is way heavy and then you add Roman (32lbs) and it is so much harder to jog... and it doesn't help that he is like "run mamí, run mamí". my goal for the end of the year, is to run my 3 miles without stopping while pushing him and the stroller...

my diet was ok except I had 2 slice of pizza....:(

sunday was a bust, I worked for about 5 hours, so I was exhausted with the combination of transitioning Roman to a toddler bed... I don't know what I was thinking...

Tuesday's WOD

Yoli and I did the following outside (usually we do our WOD in a conference room):

3 rounds of:

400 M run (appropriate measure)
200 jump ropes
50 squats......

actually had to shower today....

eating ok... staying in the zone....

I ate something really bad last night.. I always make bad choices if I don't have an afternoon snack... I ate fries and half a chicken fried steak!!!

But hopefully my crossfit WOD cancelled the meal..

Zach my instructor said it should 125 for me, I told him he was awesome for thinking that was my weight.. I lifted the lowest of my class. I hurt my back months ago, and wanted to start low.. next time I will do 65-70 lbs...

Weekend Update

This weekend was a bust... between spending time with Roman and Eric and having to go to work 4-5 hours each day I didn't have the energy/will to exercise....

Friday's WOD at work....

after warming up, my co-worker and I did the following

10 burpees
20 knee to elbows
25 squats

we only get 30 minutes of wellness time, so we have to be short/sweet

I did 75?/90/95/105/110 (last one was intense).....

I don't mind these at all! must be my peasant stock... I think the last time I did this (months ago) my max was 95

Rest day!

its a rest day for exercise, but not for my food choices!

I am glad because I am so sore from yesterday's crossfit WOD.. but I think I finally getting over my sugar/flour cravings.. I remember I tried this before getting pregnant with Roman.. and it took a week to get through the withdrawal of no bad sugar/flour... so I remember if I can make it another few days I will be ok.. that way I can get to my goal of 125 lbs faster...then I can have whatever I want in moderation with exercise... I weighed myself today and have lost 2 lbs already! I will not reveal my starting weight... its really bad!
I know planks are really good for toning up your core section, but I hate them! check out the picture below.. can you spot me?

I am going to be sore!

Today's Crossfit Workout of the Day was intense! I used a women's barbell (35 lbs) and had to stop a couple of times to rest each round of lunges.. have to work on my push ups! my goal next time is to power thru! I have no problem doing squats...

5 Rds for time: 22.04 minutes...

I am doing well on day 2 of my focused zone approach to eating. I am not calling it a diet. for the past two days I haven't eaten any flour or sweets (except fruit)....

running, running

Today I ran a 5k... back in March I walked/ran a 5 K in 47 minutes... but this August I ran it straight thru w/out stopping in 34 minutes... It was a all women 5K , and what motivated me was my music... I was running to "let me clear my throat" .... I love the line, "are you all ready to quit" live audience replies "hell no"... oh and I paid attention to my diet all week (zoned all week)... check out some pics Eric took... Roman and Eric were my motivation and I didn't want the other mommies running while pushing their strollers to smoke me!



oh, yeah I need to invest in some running gear. I got a blister on one of my feet, and I am in dire need of some running shorts...

Lately

I haven't been eating bad but I haven't been eating well either. When I'm feeling like I really need a snack I drink a lot of water. If that doesn't work I reach for my trusty supply of Skinny Cow Ice Cream. Either the sandwich or cones. They are like 140 calories but it satisfies my cravings to get me through the evening. I've been trying to pack up all my pots and dishes so I'm not expecting to cook the next couple of days. I'll probably end up eating out since my microwave in my old house is broken. Anyway I'm going to start working out at the gym besides my twice a week workouts with Noel. Wish me luck.

what have I been doing?

I know.. I know... I haven't written a blog entry... because its been a horrible eating past week...

I do really well during the day....but since I am tired in the evening.. I usually reach for something bad! I blame it back on the caffeine. One cup a day sets me back (sleep terribly) which in turn makes me so tired before Roman goes to bed... so I reach for sweet or carbs!


I am guilty of eating these things this past week:
4 peanut butter cup cookies (damn those school fundraisers!)
1 sonic cake fudge sundae

on a positive note I have been doing well with the exercise.... I am not sure why I sabotage my working out by eating terrible desserts:(

Improvements

But I give my ass an A+. It's looking good! ;)

REALLY BAD!

So, I'm not going to go into detail but I was bad. Breakfast and Lunch were good. 250 for breakfast and 350 for lunch (it had 16g of protein) total for those two meals which would have been good but I totally ruined it. My friend Robin is in town so I dropped her off to have drinks with my boss because he's cool like that while I worked out with my trainer which is great but than I met up with them afterwards. I ended up having like four Gray Goose and tonics and ended up eating a grilled MahiMahi sandwich. That would have been ok but I ate fries with them. I totally ruined my whole workout and eating healthy but oh well. Drinking makes you do dumb things. BTW, I also had fried green tomatoes as an afternoon snack because I took Robin to eat lunch since she got in so late. All in all I give myself a big fat D for the day.

wellness at work

I have started taking advantage of a new state agency policy that grants us 30 minutes 3Xs a week for any wellness activity. My co-worker and I have been doing a 20-25 minute workout M/W/F for the last couple of weeks.. its going well. I usually eat lunch at my desk so I can leave early to pick up Roman. but this new short workout gives me a boost to make it thru the afternoon. our workouts vary from doing core work, to walking/running,.. we are going halfsies (sp?) on a medicine ball so we can really do some ab work......

food journal

today starting off good... I had the following for my 4 meals...

1 whole wheat waffle
1 tbsp cream cheese (fat free)

1 egg w/cheese
1 slice of ham

1 cup of strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries
1 cup of cottage cheese

spring mix salad w/ carrots, tomatoes
1 tbl of ranch dressing

last meal was a bit of struggle to not pig out at Blue Star Cafeteria w/ my girlfriends
but thinking about today's workout going to waste made me think twice
so I ended up eating a oriental chicken salad w/ sesame dressing (no wontons for me!)
had two bites of key lime pie...so good!

and of course, I decided I needed a pomegranate champagne drink! I know I know bad move... but it was a girl's night out w/ no toddler or husband to rush the moments.... I know probably should of chosen something not so sugary...... mi culpa...

great exercise day!

I did pretty good today. I woke up dragging for my 5:30 am crossfit class but my the end felt ready to start my day.... not excited about watching what I ate, but excited to go back home to make breakfast for Roman and get him ready for school and of course to wake up my honey!

Crossfit workout this morning
5 rounds:
15 pull ups (jumping from a box for me)
15 ring dips (from a box for me)
250 m run

I forgot my time, but will start to keep track to see if I improve the next time I do this. after doing this, we had to do some core exercises

15 ab pull ups (from a box for me, of course)

First Post

Ok, today I didn't have breakfast but I did have a cup of coffee with half and half and real sugar. Normally I use turbinado sugar but I'm out at the office and yes I have breakfast at the office b/c I don't get into the office til about 9:30am. Normally I have a English muffin breakfast that has 250 calories but I got busy at work and instead waited til lunch and I had a Kashi frozen entree. It was only 250 calories and loaded with protein so I didn't feel bad. For my snack I had a Kashi bar which is about 120 calories. I got home and scrounged in the kitchen for something to eat before I went to do DeTodo the TV show. I made a sandwich with tomatoes, avocado, three slices of bacon and a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese. Not sure how many calories it was but it was satisfying and I didn't snack all night even with the muffin I was offered. I did however have three Diet Coke and Barcardi drinks. So there it is. Judge me. I am going to run in the morning with a friend and I'm working out with my trainer Noel in the evening tomorrow. Peace.
